Features
Situated close to the town centre of Knutsford, with easy access to shops, churches, restaurants and banks, Abbeyfield House offers sheltered housing for older people wanting to retain their independence whilst being part of a social, active, and friendly community.
Abbeyfield House is a purpose-built house that opened in 1989. Originally designed to cater for nine residents whilst also having a guest room, an extension was added to the property meaning the house now comfortably provides accommodation for 11 residents. It is fully accessible to service users with physical disabilities with a lift and a stair lift between floors.
Being a small house means we really get to know our residents and our residents know each other well, forming great friendships and companionship and building a warm and friendly community in our house. The housekeeper has a flat, which is incorporated in the house, meaning there is always someone at the house overnight, providing peace of mind and extra security.
All rooms have full en-suite bathrooms, and there is also a small kitchenette, allowing you to remain independent and to entertain visiting friends and family. Our rooms come unfurnished to allow you to bring your favourite personal items and possessions. Help with daily activities such as cleaning and laundry can be organised for you.
We provide two tasty meals every day served in our communal dining room. The menu is varied, wholesome and appealing and the food is home-cooked, taking into account any dietary requirements. Chicken curry, homemade soups and Mediterranean salad with tomato and mozzarella are some of the residents’ favourite meals, but nothing tops pan-fried sea bass with baby new potatoes, creamed leeks and asparagus.
Spend time with other residents in the bright and airy conservatory where you can chat over a cup of tea or sit back and relax whilst enjoying the views of the lovely secluded garden. The garden is the perfect place to while away the hours enjoying the sunshine or reading a book and we also have a summerhouse where residents can sit back and take a break.
You’ll discover a bustling community in Knutsford; it has an attractive town centre with great charm where you’ll find a diverse range of shops and an extensive choice of restaurants and bars. Famously, it is also the childhood home of Elizabeth Gaskill, who wrote the novel Cranford.
Residents may be able to bring a pet. Please discuss this with the House Manager.
This house is managed by the Abbeyfield Knutsford Society.
