Vanessa Luther

- Senior House Manager

Vanessa Luther is the Senior House Manager for Tamar House. She has worked at Abbeyfield some seven years and takes pride in providing an excellent standard of Service to our residents. Vanessa leads the team in creating a welcoming environment at Tamar House.


Jenny Alderman

- Housekeeper

Jenny Alderman has been the housekeeper at Tamar House some sixteen years. Jenny is known as the best Cake Baker for Miles. Her Homemade cakes and delicious homebaking would win any Bake off completion and all visitors compliment the high standard of food produced.


Mars Summers

- Housekeeper

Mar Summers is our Housekeeper also and has a background in many top leading reastaurants. He has worked in some of the best restaurants in London and has travelled widely to enhance and perfect his excellent standard of Home cooked Dishes cooked from scratch.


MusicEvery Year in June to Celebrate Abbeyfield Week we hold an Annual Fete at the House. Last year was to Celebrate the D Day commemorations.

We are very involved in the Local Community and work closely with a Young Persons group of Youngsters with Confidence issues who have held various Quiz Afternoons and Afternoon teas for our residents.

We have a very dedicated team of volunteers who meet for Coffee Morning with the residents regularly. One particular volunteer takes the residents out every Monday for Trips to The Seaside etc. The volunteers also arrange various events with the support of the staff. Shuffleboard Afternoons, Visits from Speakers, Reminisance Afternoon’s Christmas Parties etc. All residents are bought Christmas and Birthday Presents from The Friends of Abbeyfield Fund, which our volunteers raise funds for to enable the residents to enjoy all sorts of activities.


Tamar opens its doors Here at Tamar house we are very involved in the local community and work closely with a group who support youngsters with Confidence issues. We hold various quiz and music afternoons.


D day at Tamar houseEvery year in June, to celebrate Abbeyfield week, we hold an annual fete at the house. Last year we incorporated the D day celebrations into our party.
