Located in the village of Gosforth, Bradbury House is a care home that is much loved by the local community, offering residents a warm and friendly atmosphere. The house was built in 1998 and officially opened by Prince Charles. 

The house has 21 rooms, each with ensuite shower facilities and stunning views of the countryside and the fells. We have a communal lounge on the ground floor with open access to a beautiful garden that is south facing, perfect for enjoying some sunshine. We have a summer house and seating area which is shaded should it get too warm. 

The village of Gosforth is at the foot of Wasdale, the western part of the Lake District National Park. Popular with walkers and tourists, the village boasts some truly breathtaking scenery and landscapes and close to Wastwater, England's deepest lake, and England's highest mountain Scafell Pike. 

Close by is the village of Seascale which has a lovely beach, perfect for a day out and a walk on the sand. 

We have several convenience stores nearby as well as some restaurants, hotels and coffee shops which are in walking distance of the house. We are situated next door to the local nursery and primary school, and are often visited by the children from there. St Mary’s Church is just across the road from us.

Our house has a lovely warm atmosphere, the staff are very welcoming and friendly and the food here is excellent!

We’re proud to offer respite stays at Bradbury House, a short-stay that can be planned ahead, or in the case of an emergency, last-minute. Suitable for individuals seeking support following post-operative or hospital care, or whilst their regular caregiver takes a break, respite care can also be used as a way of introducing long-term residential care to a loved one.

At Bradbury House our respite stays include:
- 24/7 care support from our qualified and friendly staff
- Daily activities
- Nutritious meals served daily (dietary requirements can be catered for)
- Housekeeping and linen service
