Nestled within the stunning grounds of Norwich Cathedral, Abbeyfield House has been providing a home for older people since 1973. Our beautiful Grade II listed building offers 9 good sized bedrooms, each either with their own en-suite or designated private bathroom. Rooms come unfurnished, allowing you to make them a real home from home.

Residents are free to come and go as they please, with many enjoying a stroll around the cathedral or sitting in our peaceful, well-maintained garden.

Relatives and loved ones are more than welcome to come and stay in our guest facilities.

Life at the house

Our house is a small, tight knit community with a real family feel. Being in such a fantastic location, residents are able to make the most of the varied things that are going on in both the cathedral and Norwich city centre. We’re also within walking distance to many amazing shops, pubs, and restaurants.

Our summer garden party and Christmas wine and cheese night happen every year, and are looked forward to by all of the residents.

Our delicious food

From spreads and breads to teas or coffees, we supply everything you’d need to take breakfast in your room, to start the day at your own pace. We then provide two delicious, nutritious meals a day in our communal dining room. These are a big part of the day at the house, as it’s when everyone comes together to chat, catch up and share some home-cooked food together.
