Overview

Welcome to Abbeyfield House at Northfield Court. Our house is in an excellent location just a short walking distance from Taunton town centre where you will find shops, eating places, local museum, local Churches and amenities.

At Northfield Court our aim is to provide a peaceful, friendly and warm atmosphere where our residents can live as independently as possible but have the benefit of meals provided, activities available and a supportive team of staff.

Our house consists of 11 modern, light and airy flats that were built in 2008. All flats have their own kitchenette, bathroom and spacious living area. We have a certain number of either one or two bedroom flats. The flats are unfurnished so that you can bring your own furniture, making it a home from home.

Our large, modern conservatory is the perfect extension to our home and residents enjoy sitting in the light, airy room admiring the view of the garden.

The house is run by a Board of Trustees along with a House Manager and small team of staff including housekeepers and domestic staff. Together we ensure that the house is warm, comfortable and safe and that the daily meals provided are varied, nutritious and of course delicious. Our friendly staff provide support when you need it and we also have help from a small team of volunteers.

Living at Abbeyfield House, Northfield Court is a happy place to be and is the perfect move for someone who wants to remain independent but just needs that little bit of help with cooking, washing and cleaning.

Why not come and join us! For more information please contact the house.

Life at the house

Activities and special events are something we always have on offer at Abbeyfield House, Northfield Court.

Each weekday morning you can join fellow residents for a coffee, biscuit and chat. The same goes for each weekday afternoon except for Sunday.

During the week, our housekeepers engage with residents and encourage them to participate in what we to offer such as arts and crafts, gardening, watching films and gentle exercise classes.

At various times of each month there will be other social activities to look forward to including tea parties, a summer party, and celebrating other events such as Pie Week and Pet Month.

Our newest volunteer Ati also regularly takes residents out for walks, out for a coffee or on a trip to the pub! This is very much enjoyed by all of our residents.

We were very lucky this year to have such lovely weather so most of our time was spent in our conservatory and in the garden. Coming up we have games afternoons planned, a trip on the Steam Train as well as a weekly exercise class which is enjoyed by all!

Variety is the spice of life, and as much as we encourage you to take part, there is no pressure from us!

As a resident you can expect a good balance of delicious and nutritious meals provided each day by our housekeeping staff.

Breakfast items are provided such as bran flakes, porridge, museli and fruit to be eaten in your own flat.

Lunch is served at 12:30 and is two courses. Variety is the key and we aim to provide good quality meals. Our residents’ current favourite is veggie pasta served with olives, garlic bread followed by lemon tart and cream! Fish is a must on a Friday and Sunday is a roast day with all of the trimmings. On a Sunday evening residents enjoy a cold dinner namely sandwiches or a salad.

A fruit bowl is always available in the dining room area and milk is provided as and when you need it.

We can cater for special dietary requirements and will of course take in to account any of your likes and dislikes!
