Our home offers supported living to older people wanting keep their independence but remain part of a warm, caring and friendly community.
Located in the heart of Sutton, our home is close to all the hustle and bustle of city life, but tucked away in a residential area allowing residents to enjoy the peace a quiet of suburban life.
In total we have seven en-suite bedrooms, plus an extra living space for our live-in housekeeper. All rooms come unfurnished allowing residents to bring their favourite pieces of furniture, ornaments, photos and trinkets from home. Residents are also welcome to decorate their room to their taste. Each room has a compact kitchenette space complete with kettle, toaster, fridge and sink.
Our home also has a communal lounge, dining room and large garden, all of which are full accessible. We are also home to two cheerful budgies, Billy and Tilly – current residents are hoping there might be some baby budgies on the way soon!
Pendant alarms are issued to every resident living at Abbeyfield House to alert staff at Tunstall if you fall or need urgent help. Our housekeeper also lives on site and is on hand to assist residents throughout the day.
Laundry facilities are available for use by all residents, but help is provided by our staff if needed. Washing powder is provided but we often find residents have their favourite brands so use their own.
This house is managed by the Abbeyfield Southern Oaks Society.

I like living here, it’s so homely. The house has just seven residents which means you get to know each other on a deeper level – just like a real family.
Resident at Abbeyfield House
I made the decision to move to Abbeyfield House when I found myself alone in my house. I previously lived in a four bedroom house on my own and was paying for a cleaner and gardener and thought ‘why am I doing this?’. I used to visit a friend who lived in another Abbeyfield so knew it was the place for me.
