Meet our staff

Oak Hill Mansion has a dedicated team of staff who give support to the residents who need it.

The House Manager lives on site, and there is a Careline in place should any residents require additional assistance when they are not on duty.

Carol Jones

Susan Derbyshire

- Housekeeper

I have worked for Abbeyfield at Oak Hill since 2015 firstly as a Relief Housekeeper and have now taken up the Housekeeper position.

activities available for residents at abbeyfield oak hill mansion

We have an extensive library in our small upstairs lounge where residents can sit and read or look out over the park grounds. On a Wednesday afternoon we have an Up & Active session with Ian Hodgson from Hyndburn Leisure Trust. Some of the sessions Ian has are planting, drawing, painting, singing and reminiscing. Our residents thoroughly enjoy these sessions and look forward to Ian coming in every week.

We have a bible stories class for those who wish to attend and we also have a pick up and drop off service for Sunday mass.

Every Thursday we have a coffee morning at 10.30am On Friday afternoons we have craft with Keith, Naomi and Carol. Our residents have made some lovely items in the craft group. We have also made and sold items when there has been a carnival in the park. Crafts has helped some our residents to become more confident in themselves and they really enjoy the sessions as they can sit and have refreshments and cakes and a good natter at the same time as making some productive items that they can be proud of. We also encourage people from the local community to join us for lunch and stay with us for the craft sessions.

On the first Wednesday of every month some of our residents get picked up to go to St Anne’s Friendship Club where they can play games, watch entertainment or enjoy theme days. They also have light refreshments.

We also enjoy arranging day trips for the residents; a recent trip was to Blackpool where they went for lunch at a hotel, and enjoyed entertainment and a game of bingo.
