Farraday House on Tottington Road was established in 1984 with donations from Bury Council and the late Mrs Templeton.

The supported accommodation has fourteen private personalised bedsits, each of which has a lovely area where you can put your own personal furniture, making your room into a real home. We also have one respite room.

They also have a small kitchen area and an en-suite bathroom. Two meals are home-cooked every day, and facilities for making refreshments and breakfast are provided.

The house has a beautiful garden which is maintained by professional gardeners. It is on a main road within a mile of the town centre, and bus stops are 50 yards away.

A hairdresser comes weekly and an optician visits when required.

Farraday House is managed by Abbeyfield Bury

Life at the house

Arts and craftsWe organise a number of social activities and events, especially suitable for older people, so there is always something to keep you occupied or to look forward to. Although we encourage residents to join in there is never any pressure to do so, so if you'd rather enjoy your own company in our peaceful surroundings, that's absolutely fine.

Farraday House has a beautiful garden where you can sit out to enjoy the sunshine, or even help with the gardening if you feel up to it.

Regular activities include:

• Coffee mornings
• Afternoon tea
• Arts and crafts
• Gentle exercise classes

Ad hoc events include:

• Pub lunches
• Day trips to local attractions
• Birthday parties
• Christmas party
• Annual Summer Fair Party
• Local church events
• Communion offered at the house

KitchenAll our delicious meals are made with fresh produce bought locally. These meals are cooked for hours so every dish is tender and melts in your mouth.

Lunch and dinner, home-cooked by our talented house manager, are served in the communal dining room, so meal times are a real social occasion.

Each of our comfortable bedsits has a small kitchen area containing a microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster and plenty of cupboard space. We supply breakfast ingredients, so you can start your day whenever it suits you.
