Overview

Welcome to Carnarvon House, Burton Joyce. At Carnarvon House residents can enjoy the privacy of their own accommodation combined with the companionship of others, home cooked meals, and the security and support of dedicated house staff.

Located in the quiet village of Burton Joyce our home is perfectly situated to enjoy country living whilst having all the necessary amenities near by such as the post office, coffee shops, doctors, supermarket and public transport links.

Purpose built in 2000, our home is made up of 13 rooms and one one-bedroom flat. Each of our rooms are en-suite. Provided unfurnished, we offer residents to truly make their room their own by bringing their favourite furniture, ornaments, photos and trinkets. Don’t like the colour of your room? Or want to hang your own curtains? No problem. We allow residents to redecorate their room to suit personal tastes – so long as it’s returned to its original state afterwards.

Kitchenette facilities are available on each floor of our home, complete with breakfast making facilities, a dedicated space to store food and a fridge. These are communal for all residents. Our one-bedroom flat has its own kitchen facilities.

Other communal area in the house include a spacious dining room and welcoming lounge. We encourage all of our residents to come together in the communal area for meals, activities and socialising. You can often find our residents enjoying film evenings, completing jigsaws or watching their favourite TV shows in the lounge. Family and friends are welcome to visit at their leisure and are welcome to enjoy the communal areas too.

Our residents’ ideas and opinions are extremely important to us so we hold a resident meeting every eight weeks to discuss menus, activities, changes in the house, new residents moving in…everything really. Where possible all ideas are put into place.

With four of our current residents still driving we have a small car park on site.

Laundry facilities are also provided.

“I only came for a coffee morning but never went home again. Carnarvon House has everything I need. I enjoy the company, food and the comfort of a warm home.” – Neil, resident at Carnarvon House.

“Abbeyfield have eliminated all of our worries whilst allowing us to remain independent and form companionships.” – Jean and Ellen, residents at Carnarvon House.

What's on the menu

Meal time at Carnarvon House is important as it’s when the whole house gets together - a time to have a chat enjoying great food and great company.

Breakfast is taken in residents' rooms offering the independence to start the day how they wish. We provide all breakfast foods, all residents need to do is ask if they have any special requirements and where possible we’ll do our best to please.

Our staff then provide lunch and evening meal served in the dining room.

As food is such an important part of life at Abbeyfield House, and life in general, our residents are consulted on all menu choices ensuring everyone has something to look forward to during the week. All dietary needs are also catered for.

One of our favourite dishes in the house is Yvonne’s Black Forest Gateau. Stop by and maybe you’ll be lucky enough to get a slice!
