The Abbeyfield York Society was established in 1962, by a strong group of volunteers, and active support from many local organisations such as York Lions, York Rotary, York Inner Wheel and York Medical Society.

The Board has always responded to the changing needs of its residents, now running two sheltered housing properties after having to close three older unsuitable buildings.

Our sheltered homes -  one in Acomb and one in Dringhouses - offer supported living in an enjoyable and comfortable environment. It's the aim of our staff and volunteers to allow residents the independence to live their lives how they wish, but also being there to offer support if it's required.
