About Knutsford Society

Knutsford Society's first sheltered house, set in the author Elizabeth Gaskell’s home town, was established in 1965, and our present, purpose-built house was opened in 1989.

The house accommodates just 11 older people and we like to think the atmosphere is that of a family of friends sharing the same house.

Our wonderful House Manager not only cooks the tasty and nutritious meals, he also keeps a friendly and helpful eye on everyone.

Abbeyfield House

Nestled in the heart of the beautifully historic town of Knutsford, Abbeyfield House is a small house with 11 rooms, which means we get to really know our residents. For added peace of mind and security, our House Manager has a flat which has been incorporated into the house, so there is always someone there overnight. We're in a great location, part of the bustling community of Knutsford, where you can discover many shops, restaurants and an area steeped in rich history.
