Abbeyfield Girton Green caters for those who want to live later in life in a modern, safe, secure and lively setting. Set in the thriving, picturesque community of Girton on the outskirts of Cambridge, Abbeyfield is well connected to the local community.

The site is run by an Abbeyfield’s Operations Manager, assisted by a small team of Abbeyfield staff who ensure that the site and services run smoothly.

Abbeyfield Girton Green offers a range of modern, well equipped apartments for sale or rent in a vibrant, community led development which offers a wide range of services, facilities and resident led clubs and activities. As a resident of Girton Green you will enjoy full use of our restaurant which provides high quality lunchtime meals and caters for special events. Our luxurious and well equipped Spa and Gym facilities includes a pool, a sauna, steam room and a jacuzzi and offers fitness, relaxation, as well as social activities and events. Residents benefit from well-being assessments, personal training programmes and a wide range of exercise and fitness classes all of which are provided by our on-site dedicated Fitness Trainer.

A resident led coffee shop, a jigsaw corner and community activities ensure the area we call ‘The Street’ is a great place for socialising and meeting with friends. The comfortable Lounge-Conservatory overlooking the garden is used for meetings and clubs and also houses the library. The Activities Room has a fully equipped computer suite and is the venue for many of the resident led clubs and activities, including art and bridge. A purpose built Cinema is the venue for the Film Club and also offers a ‘big screen’ for communal viewing of concerts and national sporting events. We offer a minibus service to Cambridge City Centre and to local supermarkets. We also have a Guest Suite available for visiting friends and family. A hairdresser and beautician provide a range of services in our on-site Therapy Room and Hairdressing Salon, all of which ensure our residents have lots of opportunities to relax and enjoy life at Girton Green. Abbeyfield want you to feel confident and secure in the knowledge that help is always at hand, whilst living independently.

The secure, remote intercom system for visitors ensures a safe and secure environment for our residents and ensures that help is just a call away. Our Care Quality Commission registered Care at Home service offers additional support and care for now, or in the future if the need should arise. The village of Girton Green

Situated to the north-west of the city of Cambridge, the village of Girton is home to some 4500 people and has a long history dating back to pre-Saxon times. Originally named Gretton, meaning “village on the gravel”, the settlement grew up along a gravel ridge. 

Although steeped in history this is a vibrant and dynamic village where residents contribute to many activities’. The village has a wealth of societies and clubs including; a village football club, a golf club as well as a lively social club which holds regular meetings and events.

Girton benefits from a range of transport facilities including the Citi 6 bus service which runs every 20 minutes from Oakington to the City Centre until 6pm. The 159 bus service runs through the village in the evenings at two hourly intervals. Road links are also good with easy access to the M11 via the A14.

Andrew Watson

- Operations Manager

Andrew joined Abbeyfield Girton Green in 2016 and oversees the operations of the housing services. Andrew has over 20 years experience in housing management previously working for Sanctuary Housing, Luminus Group, Cross Keys Homes and Accent Nene.


Christopher Collings

- Housing Coordinator

Christopher Collings is the Housing Coordinator for Girton Green, Cambridge; the over 55 independent living complex of 76 apartments with communal facilities. Chris has a background in both care within the community and facility management.



- Maintenance Officer

David has been a member of the staff team since the development opened and plays a key role in ensuring the environment is safe and maintained to a high standard.
