Welcome to our house

Renowned for our homely, warm and friendly environment at Friars Mead, we provide person-centred and compassionate care for older people with a variety of needs. Whether you are looking for permanent residential care or short-term respite care, we specialise in looking after frail older people and offer facilities for up to 27 residents.

Most of our residents have local connections and we’re committed to building great links in the community with providers of other services for older people. Kings Langley is a wonderful village, and we want everyone to be proud of the facilities we can offer to our neighbourhood.

Spread over two floors, we not only have spacious studio rooms with en-suites for our residents, but also communal living and dining areas which act as the social hubs within the home. Other facilities include:

Relax in our beautiful, landscaped gardens and mini library or in the multiple seating areas we have each floor. These are complete with kitchenettes for making light snacks and drinks.

At Friars Mead, residents benefit from weekly visits from a hairdresser, GP and nurse as well as regular visits from a physiotherapist.

We have a 5 star rating for Environmental Health and an Excellent rating with HCPA’s impartial feed back survey.

Respite stays

When residents come and stay with us, their carers can relax and have peace of mind knowing that their loved one is safe. Our respite stays include 24 hour care, home cooked meals and the use of all our facilities. We understand that everyone is different so personal preferences are always built into our packages.

Respite and short term stays also help build a connection between our residents, their families and our home; this can be beneficial should a more permanent stay become necessary in the future.

Friars Mead is managed by the Abbeyfield Hertfordshire Residential Care Society.
