The Abbeyfield Exmouth Society began life in 1970 and opened Harding House in 1977 after a bequest from Martha Harding, whom the house is named after. Harding House was formerly The Elmdene Hotel.
Harding House underwent extensive refurbishment in the 1970s and again in the early 1990s, part of which resulted in en-suite facilities now being in all rooms.
The society’s trustees are comprised of long-serving and new members bringing a great mix of skills to cope with all the demands made from it. The new House Chairman is the daughter of our oldest resident and she is also on the Executive Committee reporting any concerns and suggestions the residents may have. The society always considers the views of the residents when making decisions.

The Abbeyfield Exmouth Society manage Harding House so that it's a warm and welcoming house, offering a good mix of communal area and individual private rooms.
