Our home has been specially designed to give a unique approach to dementia care. We have 62 en-suite bedrooms together with separate spa-bathrooms, beauty salon, lounges, cinema, shop and not forgetting that this is surrounded by beautiful gardens which can be enjoyed by you, your family and friends.
The home itself has been designed to allow freedom of movement throughout, it flows from one area into another. Each bedroom has been provided with furniture that is specially designed, as it allows easy access to your clothes and for you to be able to locate items quickly. However we strongly encourage you to make your bedroom your own by personalizing it in anyway you wish, this could mean bringing in your favourite arm chair, photos, ornaments and pictures for the wall, all of which will help make the room be part of your home.
The gardens have been designed to encourage outside living, there will be lots of areas to see and look at. We have provided outside buildings that will have both lighting and heating to help you with any hobbies you wish to pursue. If you have any visitors with children they are more than welcome and have been provided with their own play area to enjoy.Throughout the home there are some lovely quiet lounges for you to enjoy or maybe you would like to join us in ‘Winnies’, our own tea room, where you can welcome your family and friends to join you and hopefully make some new friends with our other residents and our team.

Life at Winnersh - more than a care home
At Abbeyfield Winnersh we combine cutting edge technology with expert design to offer a safe, stimulating and comfortable dementia friendly environment - our brochure talks more about the innovative design of Winnersh.
Dementia friendly activities at Winnersh
Coupled with the specially designed environment, activities at the house are also designed to be dementia friendly. Our activities team will really get to know you, find out what hobbies you do and what interests you, they will then in turn provide you with some help to continue these activities. We have also ensured that there will be one to one time with this team, to provide the support you need, whether that is doing your nails, booking hairdressing appointments or simply there for a cuppa and a chat.
Some of the suggested activities are; garden club, film afternoons, entertainers, gentleman’s club, beauty sessions, trips out, visiting schools, visiting animals, painting, cooking and fun - lots of fun!
Nutrition - freshly prepared food
Good nutrition is crucial in later life. All our food will be freshly prepared on the premises; there will be plenty of choice for breakfast, lunch and supper. There will also be homemade biscuits and cakes available throughout the day.
We understand the importance of getting the varied and healthy diet, and at our care home we will ensure all residents receive nutritious meals. Our head chef will ensure all your dietary requirements are met together with your own personal likes and dislikes.
