Meet our staff

Stow Park Nursing Home is upheld and supported by a team of experienced staff, including highly skilled nursing and support staff, a skilled maintenance engineer, a professional off-site administrative team and a board of specialist trustees.

Our home is run by a Nurse Manager, Deputy Nurse Manager, several registered general and mental health nurses, numerous care assistants, two chefs, an activities coordinator, a maintenance engineer and a number of domestic, kitchen and laundry assistants. Our devoted staff ensure residents receive exceptional standards of service and care, that the home is clean, comfortable and safe and that the meals we provide are varied, nutritious and enjoyable. We don’t limit the time we spend on providing the right level of care and support; our staff will take the time to get to know each resident and ensure they have enough time to give them the attention they need so that they can feel safe, secure and comfortable. The Nurse Manager will also build lasting relationships with residents’ families, doctors and any other external agencies to ensure their physical, emotional and spiritual needs are upheld.

Our off-site administrative team works closely with house staff to help support the running of the home and maintain the high standards of accommodation and service that we offer. Our administrative team provides valuable professional support for many business functions, such as customer services, sales, purchasing, payroll, human resources, marketing, fundraising and development. Each member of staff, on-site and off, is a specialist in their role and receives regular training, development and support to ensure residents get the best possible care and support available. Our board of trustees contribute a wealth of experience and expertise to the running of Abbeyfield Wales and are legally responsible for the governance of the society.

Integral to Stow Park Nursing Home are the volunteers who dedicate their own time to support our residents and who bring an incredible range of skills and experience to the home. We benefit greatly from the invaluable hours that our volunteers invest in organising activities and events, helping to run and maintain the home and ensuring it is a stimulating and warm environment. Despite their varied backgrounds, our volunteers have one fundamental thing in common – a desire to help and support older people to live a good life.

Our caring staff and volunteers organise a range of activities on a daily basis for our residents, which include weekly exercise classes, hair and beauty treatments, themed parties and visits from singers and performers. Residents also enjoy listening to music, watching movies and documentaries, playing games, crafting or simply chatting over a cup of coffee with a slice of cake. We also often enjoy fetes and garden parties in the summer and festive activities at Christmas.

Every year we take part in Abbeyfield Week – a week when we open our doors to the local community to show off what's on offer at Abbeyfield. We celebrate this by hosting events such as fetes, tea parties and garden parties, to which residents, their families and the public are invited.

We like to make a big fuss for residents’ birthdays; we decorate the house with balloons and banners and always host a tea party so that the residents and their families can get together to celebrate with cake, cards and presents.

We celebrate all the public holidays and commemorations throughout the year with a themed activity, party or tradition - our favourite is Christmas when we enjoy a traditional Christmas dinner with all the trimmings, a glass of wine and some mince pies, whilst listening to carols.
