Pennant house is a purpose built unique Abbeyfield house situated between Westbourne and Poole near the beautiful beaches and the Sandbanks area in Dorset.

Parkstone and Branksome train stations and bus stops are close by and there are churches, shops, restaurants, cafes and gardens in the local area.

All 15 residents’ rooms have en-suite facilities and underfloor heating. Other facilities include a laundry room, residents lounge and dining room. There is a lift to the upper floors. There is also a beautiful south facing garden with a summerhouse for the residents to enjoy.

The house has a dedicated Operations Manager however residents can gain additional support from a Careline provider 24 hours a day. Each resident is provided with a pendant and has a support system in their bedroom and en-suite to contact the Careline.

Life at the house

We offer various activities and events for the residents to take part in. Families are encouraged to attend social activities when they can.

Some of our activities have included:

  • Guest speakers, singers and entertainers
  • Reminiscence sessions with local museum
  • Daily coffee mornings
  • Boat trips to the beautiful harbour of Wareham and Poole
  • Garden Fetes and afternoon teas in the garden

Resident’s birthdays are also always celebrated with homemade birthday cake, family and friends are welcome to join us for a coffee or lunch to celebrate this important day together. There is a Christmas party every year for the residents and family.

Residents are also encouraged to take active roles in garden by planting pots and light weeding and maintenance if they wish.

Our team of house staff provide ingredients for a continental style breakfast so that residents can start the day at their own pace. Home cooked lunch and tea is provided in the communal dining room and satisfy a variety of dietary requirements. Our menu is based on a traditional English menu and we always use fresh, local ingredients where possible to provide varied, nutritious and enjoyable meals for our residents.
