Meet our staff

A voluntary committee is responsible for the well being of our residents and overseeing the houses. Overall responsibility for the Society's activities rests with an Executive Committee of voluntary Trustees drawn from public and private sectors.

Staff and volunteers also provide support and companionship to residents. The staff at our homes are experienced in dealing with elderly people and are very empathetic to their needs.

Julia has worked for Abbeyfield for many years and is a great support to house manager Jane when she’s not on duty. Julia is famous for her delicious cupcakes and daily biscuits. Julia is very creative and enjoys organising various events for residents.

We offer various activities and events for the residents to take part in. Families are encouraged to attend social activities when they can.

Some of our activities have included:

  • Boat trips to Poole and Wareham harbour with with our volunteers
  • Regular sing a longs in the afternoon
  • Giant Scrabble and various board games
  • Easter Bonnet competitions
  • Our WI and other local groups regularly enjoy lunch with us
  • Afternoon teas served in the garden in Summertime
  • Making homemade Christmas cards and decorations

Resident’s birthdays are always celebrated and residents are given the opportunity to choose the menu. We make a homemade birthday cake and welcome family and friends to join for a coffee or lunch to celebrate this important day together.
