May Mills House - Sheltered Housing offers homely accommodation & independent living whilst offering support, companionship and the security of having an Onsite House Manager. May Mills House is only a short distance from the town centre and public transport facilities, and is very much part of the local community. May Mills House offers bed sits for both male and female Residents who no longer feel happy coping alone at home but who are still relatively healthy, fit and active. At Abbeyfield Loughborough there is no “make yourself at home”, it is your home – your space, housing your memories and the things that matter most to you. The way you choose to furnish and accessorise your room is down to you. We want you to be comfortable so bring your favourite recliner, pictures and most treasured possessions.

You have complete freedom to invite family and friends to visit you whenever you want. Get to know and share experiences with fellow residents over shared meals in the dining room or sitting in the garden, join in with arts and crafts, music, outings and other social events.

Sheltered Housing – the benefits:

• Independence – you can ‘come & go’ as you please – you have your own front door key
• The security of having a ‘live in’ House Manager on site
• Lifeline alarm call system
• Companionship
• Meet up every morning to share a cuppa and a biscuit with other residents whilst having a chat
• Communal dining room to eat both your lunch and tea
• Residents’ family and friends can visit anytime – they can come and have lunch with you

Life at the house

Volunteers are integral to our houses, dedicating their own time to offer support and friendship to those who have chosen to live with us. They can be involved in assisting to organise activities and events, popping out to the shops, park or pub or simply having a cup of tea and chat. These volunteers make Abbeyfield homes what they are – stimulating and warm environments. Younger faces offer varied conversation, listening to Residents’ experiences and telling their own stories. There may also be people from the local community that come to share news and their stories.

All food is freshly prepared and ‘home cooked’ to meet the needs of each resident.  We pride ourselves on using high quality, fresh produce at all times. Residents really do love our puddings and often like to have seconds!
