Recently Purpose-Built, in Glorious Setting!

Overlooking the beautiful Hanham common, with its summer cricket and children’s playground, Kift Lodge lets you enjoy countryside views with the advantages of city life nearby.

Kift Lodge is a light, spacious house, purpose-built by Abbeyfield after the former house and land were generously bequeathed to us by a gentleman named Peter Kift: a well-loved local character. Local community groups hold regular meetings at the house, and the adjoining Common is always busy with dog walkers, and families – a great place to take your grandchildren when they visit. Many residents take daily walks around the Common, from which there are lovely views to the hills beyond.

The extensive gardens around the house are beautifully-tended by our gardeners – with quiet areas to sit and enjoy the flowers, and plenty of raised beds for you to tend if you wish. There is even a boules court if you’re feeling energetic … and competitive!

Kift Lodge is about 5 miles from Bristol city centre, with easy access to the M4 and Bath.

This house is managed by Abbeyfield Bristol and Keynsham

Kift Lodge is a member of the Associated Retirement Community Operators and aims to comply with the ARCO Consumer Code at the schemes that satisfy ARCO’s strict membership criteria. The Code sets high standards for retirement community operators and provides a benchmark for good practice.

Life at the house

We believe in enjoying later life and at an Abbeyfield, there is always an emphasis on offering opportunities to get involved in activities and entertainment. We understand the importance of our residents emotional and physical well-being and keeping active and enjoying later life is crucial to this.

There are numerous opportunities for residents to stay active, but it’s always the residents choice to get involved, with their independence and choice always being respected.

We provide two healthy and delicious meals a day, which are cooked and prepared at the house. Our qualified cooks pride themselves on providing excellent food which is all freshly prepared, and where possible, using locally sourced produce.

Each house has an individual approach to catering for their residents, with menus being tailored to dietary needs and special events. But we always offer plenty of choices, including vegetarian options, and great portion sizes!

Meal time at an Abbeyfield is also important as it’s when the whole house gets together - a time to have a chat enjoying great food and great company.
