Life at the house

Outings are organised by an active House Committee during the year to local places of interest. We have recently visited Cotehele, a National Trust House to see the Christmas garlands, Buckfast Abbey, Mountbatten, the Plymouth Aquarium, Roadford Lake, Dingles Heritage Fairground. Suggestions for places of interest to visit are always welcomed.

We have the benefit of a room (Woburn Room) purpose built for activities, here there are numerous talks, musical afternoons, quizzes and any other entertainment requested. The Woburn Room has a wi-fi connection, and there are weekly computer classes held.

The residents regularly hold informal talks/quizzes in the lounge and there are games on a Sunday afternoon.

Our People

A warm friendly atmosphere is created by our dedicated staff, led by the House Manager. Staff are on site every day from 8.30 to 6.30. We do our utmost to make our sheltered home a comfortable and supported environment for our elderly residents.

The Society has an Executive Committee, who are Trustees with full legal responsibilities. They are responsible for development, public relations, and communication with the National Society at St Albans and the Regional Strategy Head. They all oversee the repair and maintenance of the house, budget and finances.

The House Committee made up of local volunteers, is responsible for the day to day running of the Society. Each resident is linked to a member of the House Committee so that any problems arising can be shared.
