Abbeyfield Liskeard society was established in 1976 to meet the needs of retired folk who wished to retain independence but not the strain and loneliness of maintaining a home alone. Carol Davies House was acquired and adapted to provide the necessary sheltered accommodation.

Carol Davies House was purpose built by the Abbeyfield Liskeard Society to provide supported housing for older people. It has 9 studio flats, a lift, lounge, dining room, laundry, guest facilities and a picturesque garden for residents' use.

We are in a very central location within Liskeard. The house is less than 500 yards from the town centre with shops, bus stop, post office, GP surgery, etc. The local Methodist Chapel is a strong supporter of our sheltered house and still organises the annual Christmas Carol Service, along with other community organisations.

The Liskeard society is part of Abbeyfield Society which began in 1956 when Richard Carr-Gomm, a young Coldstream Guard, became concerned by the number of lonely older people he saw in south-east London. Today we look to uphold these values and offer elderly people the best supported housing we can.
