All rooms are a generous size and include a purpose built en-suite bathroom, bedroom/ lounge area and kitchenette which has been fitted with a sink, worktop and cupboards. The rooms are carpeted ready for you to furnish with your own personal belongings to make you feel right at home, and have television and telephone points with an ample number of electrical sockets as well as your own secure front door.

The House Manager and volunteers are committed to providing support and advice to residents to help maintain good health and independence. We pride ourselves on delivering high quality home cooked lunches and suppers, served everyday in our communal dining room, and providing a warm, welcoming and inviting atmosphere for all of residents.

Abbeyfield House is in the perfect location; Kingsbridge is situated between Plymouth, Dartmoor and Torquay, in the southern tip of the Devon countryside. Relax on beautiful sandy beaches, or admire the view of the rich, green, rolling countryside- ideal destinations for peaceful walks or catching up with family and friends. Abbeyfield House is a few minutes stroll away from Kingsbridge town centre where you’ll find a public boating pontoon on the estuary, libraries, pharmacies, cafes, newsagent, art gallery and a selection of shops, all surrounding the beautiful waterside Quay area.

Friends of Abbeyfield volunteers also visit the House, arranging guest speakers, musicians and outings.

Residents can view the communal noticeboard any planned events our Friends of Abbeyfield House volunteers have arranged, should they wish to participate. Family and friends are always welcome as well to join in. These volunteers coordinate trips out locally, including local beachside restaurants for a tasty dish of fish and chips, and most recently they organised a trip to our local historic church to experience bell ringing. The volunteers also set up a monthly coffee morning at Abbeyfield House, open to the public with a raffle, with the proceeds funding future planned events and trips. Coffee mornings are on the first Friday of every month from 10.30am to 12pm and you are most welcome to come and visit and sample the delicious home baked cakes we make onsite.

We liaise with residents individually about their birthday plans and they can request to have a delicious homemade birthday cake made for them onsite. Each year, we have a number of special events that we host including our Christmas party in-house, in December where residents, friends and family of residents, staff and volunteers and their families all come together. Staff put on an impressive home cooked buffet spread, there’s local musicians, with singing along with a tipple or two.

Residents residing in Abbeyfield House also utilise our own snooker tables for snooker nights, host film nights in the evening, organise trips out for jazz/folk music sessions at the local pub.

We have an excellent onsite catering team who provide freshly cooked lunch and suppers in a bright and airy shared dining room, and a good reputation locally for good home cooked food and also a warm and welcoming atmosphere for everyone.

We hold coffee mornings on the first Friday of every month with yummy home cooked cakes!
