About the property

We provide a peaceful, friendly atmosphere where residents can remain as independent as possible. We offer a range of activities from coffee mornings to the trips out.

It's a home from home with support when you need it from our professional and caring house staff and volunteers.

Meet our staff

Sheltered housing is all about supporting residents but allowing them to live independently. Our staff and volunteers take this into account when running Ryde's two homes.

Each house has a resident Housekeeper and a deputy together with a domestic help. There is also a company secretary. Our volunteer base is very strong with a large house committee that is diligent in ensuring the well-being of the residents. The Chairman also undertakes a great deal of day to day maintenance around the houses.

Our housekeepers specialise in home cooking and baking and are greatly praised by our residents.

Our House Committee volunteers are tremendously dedicated we believe they are outstanding in their commitment to Abbeyfield.

Activities

The Society ensures a steady programme of social activities with talks, visits or social events and every opportunity is taken to arrange a get-together between the houses as often as possible. Regular events and activities include theatre trips and meals out.
