Abbeyfield is a national charity dedicated to the care and support of older people. Our vision is ‘making time for older people’ and we see volunteers as crucial in helping us achieve this.

As a Volunteer Quality Assessor, you would play a key role in the delivery and implementation of our internal quality programme, the Abbeyfield Quality Standard. The aim of the Quality Standard is to make sure that every resident receives the best possible level of service, which goes above and beyond minimum requirements.

To deliver the Quality Standard, we need a team of professional volunteers who can use their skills to assist us with monitoring and evaluating Abbeyfield services within their local areas. This vital role will provide you with an opportunity to make a real difference to the older people who live with us.

For this role, ideally you would:

  • Possess good analytical skills
  • Be diplomatic and tactful
  • Have good communication and written skills
  • Be open-minded and tolerant of different lifestyles and values
  • Be able to work within personal and organisational boundaries

The role fit around any other commitments you may have, and you would not be asked to complete more than four assessments in any year.

Practical considerations:

  • Abbeyfield will reimburse you with any agreed appropriate expenses
  • We will provide you with any training you need to carry out your role
  • You’ll be supported by our small, friendly in-house team
  • You’ll have the chance to use your skills and experience to make a real difference to the lives of older people

Please note this is a voluntary role
