Welcome to our house

Helene Andrews House was built in 1919 and is situated close to the vibrant shopping area of Belfast. There is an array of boutiques within walking distance where you will find all your daily essentials and you will be able to stop and sample some beautiful homemade food and cakes at one of many cafés and restaurants.

With a bus stop right outside you can easily access the city centre and popular attractions such as the Ulster Museum and Botanic Gardens. There is plenty to do here at Helene Andrews House with activities and trips organised by our volunteers, and a range of activities at our local library which are available for everyone to join.

There is a warm and friendly atmosphere here and a real community spirit. We have lots of interesting characters who enjoy sharing their stories and encouraging others to join in. Residents enjoy sitting in our lounge area or spending time in the gardens surrounded by bright blooming flowers that surround the house. We spend time in our herb garden where residents enjoy caring for plants that they have grown from seeds, and then enjoy using the produce they have grown in our cooking.

We have sing-a-long afternoons and exercise classes, which we find are really useful to help keep everyone fit and healthy. In the summer we have a garden party where residents can invite their family and friends to join us and enjoy tea in the gardens. Staff and volunteers organise parties for Christmas and to celebrate special occasions such as birthdays, which are all very much enjoyed.

Our beautiful cosy house has seven ensuite rooms. We can provide furniture however residents often prefer to bring their own, along with personal items to decorate the rooms to their personal taste.

This house is managed by the Abbeyfield Belfast Society.
