Welcome to our house

Located in the beautiful historic Stevenage Old Town, Abbeyfield House has 11 rooms making it homely and a small, friendly house. We have a dedicated team of professional, kind and caring staff and volunteers providing support when you need it.

Built in 1935, the house was originally a family home and was extended about 35 years ago and turned into Abbeyfield House. We have 11 single occupancy flats, which come unfurnished allowing you to decorate and personalise your room to make it feel like home.

Abbeyfield House is located just a short 5 minute walk from the quaint High Street, which has a variety of restaurants, cafes, independent shops and barbers. We are close to a bus stop and are in easy distance to nearby towns including Hitchin, Letchworth or Stevenage new town. Stevenage has excellent train links; you can get direct trains into London Kings Cross, Moorgate, Newark, Royston, Cambridge and Leeds.

Find out more about Stevenage’s history in the Stevenage Museum or visit Knebworth House where you can learn more about the Lytton family’s amazing 500-year history or explore the maze and wilderness outside the house. In Stevenage town centre, you’ll discover a range of shops, cafes, supermarkets, Westgate Shopping Centre, The Forum Shopping Park and the Plaza.

If that’s not enough, Stevenage has a number of retail parks where you can find more shops, restaurants, and a multiplex cinema, mini golf, bowling alley, gym and many more restaurants in the Leisure Park – there’s plenty to keep you busy and entertained.

Find companionship in our bright and airy communal lounge the perfect place to catch up and have a chat, or spend time in our attractive well-maintained garden where you can relax and enjoy the sunshine and peace and quiet.
