Abbeyfield House

Queens Park Road, Handbridge, Chester, Cheshire, England, CH4 7AD

Welcome to our house

Abbeyfield House is located in the Handbridge area of Chester, offering 12 rooms each with a lounge/bed area, a small kitchen and an en-suite shower room. Both floors of the house also have a communal bathroom, laundry room and a stair lift is also available.

Our large communal dining room is where you will enjoy two fabulous home cooked meals each day, in the company of the other residents at the house.

We have a small potted garden at the front with a bench for sitting and enjoying the fresh air, and the equivalent to the rear of the house.

We are close by to a newsagents, garage with convenience store, hairdressers, chemist, and a doctors. There are plenty of fantastic pubs and cafés nearby for you to enjoy. The beautiful city of Chester is just a 15 minute walk away, where you'll find streets steeped in rich history.

We are lucky to be supported by a team of volunteers, who work closely with the manager to plan plenty of social events during the year. We have done canal trips on a horse drawn barge in North Wales, days out to the local garden centre for afternoon tea and enjoyed a delicious BBQ in the summer.

Every couple of months we hold a quiz with afternoon tea, where we link up with our other house in Chester. This is a fantastic event, allowing residents from both houses to come together and have a catch up. You can also enjoy plenty of bingo nights and film nights, which we host regularly. There is a coffee morning every month at our Boughton house, where you can enjoy freshly made scones by our House Manager.

We have visits from a local choir who encourage the residents to sing along with them, and also a local theatre group who put on a fabulous performance for us.

We pride ourselves on the support we give to our residents and want them to be happy in their home, while enjoying the independence they wish in their day to day lives.

We have an excellent team of staff here, who are all supportive of the needs of older people. With the support of the Volunteer Trustee Committee who assist the House Managers with the general running of the houses, we all come together to ensure that every single one of our residents are all well looked after.
