Support Worker, Stockport

Salary: £9.15 per hour. 

Hours: Working on a part time basis covering 10 hours a week over 5 days.

Responsibilities include:

  • To undertake agreed scheduled visits to service users’ homes to provide the care and support as identified within the services users care plan. This includes delivering the agreed support and care in a flexible manner to suit the requirements of the service user during the particular visit.
  • To ensure each service user receives the assistance they require with any or all elements of their personal care, such as oral/denture care, to include washing, hair care washing and grooming, shaving, showering and or bathing, dressing/undressing and assisting service users in all aspects of daily living as required within their care plan.
  • To assist service users to mobilise as they require and adhere to safe systems of moving and handling with use of the required equipment in line with their care plan and risk assessments.
  • To assist service users with other physical aspects of their care, including incontinence, stoma, catheter care, and in the use and care of aids and personal equipment belonging to the service user.
  • To help prepare or cook and serve meals and prepare ironing/laundry/hand washing and cold drinks, as directed by the service user and their care plan. This may include recording of food and fluid intake and assisting the service user with eating and drinking as required.
  • Understand and observe all relevant regulations and Abbeyfield policies and procedures.
  • Be familiar with the administrative records of the agency and ensure that all records are kept up to date.
  • To follow appropriate procedures in the event of accidents/ emergencies e.g. fire, missing service users.
  • Ensure that the service user’s home is secure when you leave them.
  • To be flexible about working hours and to support the out of hours service to help cover the service needed by Service users when colleagues are taken ill, or have holiday or training.
