Located in the historical town of Hadleigh, famous for its castle and country park, The Abbeyfield House offers sheltered housing and consists of 14 rooms all on ground level. All of our rooms come with en-suite facilities but we encourage residents to bring their own furniture allowing you to personalise it to your own taste and make it feel like home.
Built in 1983 by the Hadleigh Benfleet Society, the house has always been well maintained to a high standard and our caring team of staff are all dedicated to ensuring that our residents feel happy and supported by creating a warm and homely atmosphere.
You’ll find a beautiful communal lounge and dining room in the house where you can socialise and spend time getting to know other residents. Alternatively, you can while away the time in the attractive well-tended garden, spend time in the summerhouse to read a book, or do a little gardening. We have four communal bathrooms/wet rooms and a laundry room that are also available for you to use.
The Abbeyfield House is in a great location; we are a short bus, car or train ride away from the following places of interest:
The nearest bus stop is at the end of Chapel Lane which is a ten minute walk from the house. The train station is a five minute drive, with direct links into London and Southend on Sea.
We are fortunate to have the local swimming pool, Runnymead within a five minute drive.
Amanda, a chartered manager FCMI, joined the Abbeyfield Society in 2014 covering East Anglia and part of the East Regional Team. She brings over 20 years experience in the housing and health and social care sector.
Barbara has over 28 years experience in sheltered housing within Abbeyfield starting as a General Assistant in the 1990's and working her way to Senior House Manager in 2015. The most rewarding part of Barbara's role is knowing she makes a difference to the residents lives.
I really enjoy working at Abbeyfield as I feel we are part of a huge family. I enjoy fundraising and doing special themed days such as Victory in Europe Day. I also enjoy listening to some interesting and really funny stories that the residents have to tell over a cup of tea. It’s a great place to work.
