Features
Abbeyfield House is set in a quiet area of Ivybridge just 10 minutes walk from the town centre, with shops, doctors' surgeries and The Watermark Centre nearby.
The house was purpose built in 1968 after land was donated to the society by Miss Violet Hamlyn, with the second building being added in the early 1980s. The houses were later linked by a glass corridor making one large home.
There are 14 comfortable one-bedroom studios, mostly with en-suite, along with a one bedroom flat and a two bedroom bungalow. Completing our home are communal dining and living room as well as a games room and a large garden for you to enjoy at your leisure. Abbeyfield House is very sociable so company is always available when you want it.
In May 2019, Santander Bank kindly donated £250 and four of their staff to help create a secret garden for our residents. It was led by our handyman David and Rachel, our garden volunteer, and what a difference it has made!
We provide a peaceful, friendly atmosphere where residents can remain as independent as possible and we personalise our services to meet your needs. It's a home from home with support when you need it from our professional and caring house staff and volunteers.
Two healthy and delicious meals are provided, which are cooked and prepared at the house. Our qualified cooks pride themselves on providing excellent food which is all freshly prepared, and where possible, using locally sourced produce.
Each house has an individual approach to catering for their residents, with menus being tailored to dietary needs and special events. But we always offer plenty of choices, including vegetarian options, and great portion sizes!
Meal time at an Abbeyfield is also important as it’s when the whole house gets together - a time to have a chat enjoying great food and great company.
We are very lucky to be positioned close to Dartmoor, the South Devon coast and Plymouth. Living in Ivybridge means you can enjoy country and coastal living - the best of both worlds. We're a ten minute walk away from the town centre, with shops, doctor surgeries and The Watermark Centre nearby.
This property is managed by Abbeyfield Living Society (a trading name of The Abbeyfield Society).
