Situated in the beautiful historic city of St Albans, Grace Muriel House is a purpose built care home which opened its doors in 1972. Our ethos has always been focused on creating a home where everyone is greeted with a friendly welcoming atmosphere and feels part of the family. We pride ourselves on providing a clean and comfortable home with the highest quality of care, delivered by a team of caring, friendly and professional staff.
At Grace Muriel House we have 36 rooms which includes 21 with en-suite facilities and 15 with vanity units and washbasins. Our home has been expanded over the years to accommodate the changing needs and requirements of our residents. Most recently, we refurbished a kitchen area with a new table, chairs, tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge, and it now makes a lovely room to catch up with family and friends over a cup of tea. We also have plans to enlarge our extra care lounge, installing patio doors which will lead our into a wheelchair friendly sensory garden.
We believe that it’s important that our residents remain as independent for as long as possible and to allow them to make their own choices. We have a dedicated team of care staff who are on hand 24 hours a day to provide support to our residents. Our management team really embrace changes and initiatives in care and encourage our staff to take part in learning and development courses and training to become champions in certain fields, such as; Nutrition and Hydration, and Safeguarding.
For residents looking to make new friends or find companionship, our accessible courtyard and garden or beautiful summerhouse, with it’s bright and airy space, make the perfect place to catch up with other residents, or relax and unwind for a peaceful moment.
Our home is located in a quiet residential area and is just a short bus ride away from the centre of St Albans and we have local shops within walking distance. Close by you’ll also find St Albans Cathedral, Verulamium Park, St Albans Museum and Gallery.
Grace Muriel is managed by Abbeyfield St Albans Society.
