This home accommodates 42 residents in 42 single rooms. Following a recent refurbishment, 32 of these are now en-suite rooms. It is purpose built with a dementia wing and has a garden. Overnight visitors can usually be accommodated. Residents may bring their own furniture. There is a lot of flexibility about meals. This is a non-smoking home.

Meet our staff

Sycamore House has a dedicated team of staff, and volunteers. The things that are important to you are the things that are important to us. You will be valued as a unique individual and we will tailor the care you receive to suit you. 

Norma Smith

- Care Home Manager

The care home manager, Norma Smith, is registered with the CQC and is responsible for the management and day to day running of the care home. Norma has achieved NVQ level 2 & 4. RMA. D32/33 Assessors award.

Gail Wheatley

- Deputy Manager

Gail Wheatley joined Abbeyfield in 2001 as a Care Assistant and is now the Deputy Manager at Sycamore House. Gail has achieved NVQ Levels 2 & 3 and is currently working towards a Level 5 in Health & Social Care.



We organise a wide range of leisure and social activities and you are welcome to join in any of the activities that appeal to you. Information about planned events will be displayed in the care home.

We will talk to you about the sort of activities you enjoy and we will try to make sure that the social calendar includes something for everyone. There will be opportunities for you to pursue your own hobbies and interests as well as opportunities to try out new experiences and pastimes We have our own library of books and films and we have visiting entertainers and speakers. We provide a computer with internet access for residents to use with help and support for those new to using a computer. We arrange trips on a regular basis and we will ask you about places you would like to visit when we are making plans. In the past we have visited shopping centres, gardens and garden centres, theatres and places of local interest.
