We provide a peaceful, friendly atmosphere where residents can remain as independent as possible. We offer a range of activities from coffee mornings to the more energetic exercise classes. It's a home from home with support when you need it from our professional and caring house staff and volunteers.

Ruby Moore House was built in 1920 and renovated in 1997. As one of our smaller houses with just 8 rooms the house feels like a family home. We have a large communal living/dining area which is the heart of the house.

Staff are on site from 9am to 2pm, 7 days a week. Care line takes over after staff leave and throughout the night so our residents and their families can have peace of mind that there is always help on hand if required.

New residents accepted from 55 years of age.

Please contact us to discuss if you wish to bring a pet.

Life at the house

The beauty of Ruby Moore House is that you can have your independence, with the knowledge that help and support is there if you need it. Some residents enjoy their own company and will spend time doing their own thing, while others prefer to get involved in the many events and activities which we have on offer.

We offer weekly exercise classes and film days, where our residents can relax and unwind watching a variety of films. We have volunteers who attend site providing IT support for those residents who enjoy keeping up with technology.

We organise bingo & quiz afternoons with an afternoon tea and whenever possible try to arrange activities and days out further afield such as visits to local garden centre to a canal cruise. We have entertainers who come and entertain our residents with lively singing and music.
There is hairdresser who visits the house on a weekly basis.

At an Abbeyfield supported house, we provide a healthy and delicious meal every luchtime, which are cooked and prepared at the house. Our qualified cooks pride themselves on providing excellent food which is all freshly prepared, and where possible, using locally sourced produce.

Each house has an individual approach to catering for their residents, with menus being tailored to dietary needs and special events. But we always offer plenty of choices, including vegetarian options, and great portion sizes!

Meal time at an Abbeyfield is also important as it’s when the whole house gets together - a time to have a chat enjoying great food and great company.
