Life at the house

Arts and craftsThe beauty of Abbeyfield is that you can have your independence, with the knowledge that help and support is there if you need it. Some residents enjoy their own company and will spend time doing their own thing, while others prefer to get involved in the many events and activites which we have on offer.

At Gadsby we enjoy coffee mornings twice a week, an opportunity for residents and staff to get together. Ringtons, the tea manufacturing and delivery company, call once a fortnight bringing coffee, tea and biscuits, and a craft afternoon is held one afternoon a month.

We also have mobile fashions which visit three or four times a year, and we have had pamper days, chair based exercises and musical afternoons.

The residents of Gadsby House also enjoy supporting Macmillan nurses coffee afternoons, with very good results. Occasionally staff members have given their time to take residents to Liverpool Museum or to the nearby hamlet of Lady Green, a group of traditional farm buildings built on a medieval site.

We are about to embark on some new skills by learning how to trace our family tree with help from the local college who will run an on site class.

Two tasty and nutritious meals are provided each day, either home-cooked or delivered, and residents have the facilities for making breakfast in their own rooms so that they can start the day at their leisure.
