Supported Housing
A Scheme Supervisor, Heather Pinkerton, is employed by the Association and her duties include welcoming new tenants to the scheme and assisting them to settle in and support tenants who need help in times of sickness bereavement or other distress.
In consultation with the Property Manager, the Supervisor also ensures the buildings, equipment, furnishing and grounds are properly and cost effectively maintained.
Although available for support, the Scheme Supervisor does not provide care.
We believe in enjoying later life and an Abbeyfield house will always offer residents the opportunity to get involved in activities and entertainment - which are a big part of life in our houses!
We offer an extensive activity programme within our supported houses, with our teams dedicated to coordinating events. We understand the importance of our residents’ emotional and physical well-being, and keeping active and enjoying later life is crucial to this.
Keeping active is important for older people and we offer numerous opportunities for residents to stay active, but it’s always the residents choice to get involved, with their independence and choice always being respected.
At an Abbeyfield supported house, we provide two healthy and delicious meals a day, which are cooked and prepared at the house. Our qualified cooks pride themselves on providing excellent food which is all freshly prepared, and where possible, using locally sourced produce.
Each house has an individual approach to catering for their residents, with menus being tailored to dietary needs and special events. But we always offer plenty of choices, including vegetarian options, and great portion sizes!
Meal time at an Abbeyfield is also important as it’s when the whole house gets together - a time to have a chat enjoying great food and great company.
