Designed in 1914 as a rest home for workers in Armstrong's Tyneside factories, Armstrong was completed in 1925 and consists of 12 flats. The house is just a stones throw away from Bamburgh Castle.

Most rooms are en-suite and all rooms are unfurnished, so that you can bring your own furniture, making it a home from home.

The on site house manager ensures that the house is warm, comfortable and safe and that the daily meals provided are varied, nutritious and enjoyable.

This house is managed by Abbeyfield Bamburgh.

Life at the house

ActivitiesWe like to make sure that you keep busy and active if you want to, so we arrange regular outing and visits and activities a the home.

Residents are also encouraged to follow their own interests and take part in the local community.

Our cooks provide healthy and delicious meals every day that are cooked and prepared on site. Our fully qualified cooks pride themselves on providing excellent food which is all freshly prepared, and where possible, using locally sourced produce.

Each home has an individual approach to catering for their residents, with menus being tailored to dietary needs and special events. But we always offer plenty of choices, including vegetarian options, and great portion sizes!

Meal time at an Abbeyfield is also important as it’s when the whole house gets together - a time to have a chat enjoying great food and great company.
