About the property

Built in 1998, Regency Mews has 21 studio flats, all mobility standard. Our house is set in quiet grounds with mature trees, a variety of shrub beds and a flat access path around the building. It is a haven for the local garden birds.

within we have a large comfortable lounge, used by the residents, with various sitting areas, a TV and music system. There is also a reading area with books provided by the local library service. We also have computers available for residents and family, as well as wifi.

The lounge has access to the rear garden with outside tables and chairs for when the sun shines! It opens into the dining room where our residents enjoy the meals provided. This room arrangement allows flexibility for social events and parties.

We also have a laundry, two assisted bathrooms, a hair and beauty salon, two mini kitchens for residents’ use, a respite/guest room and a small quiet lounge.

This house is managed by Abbeyfield York.

Meet our staff

We have very committed and caring staff. At Regency Mews where we are registered with the Care Quality Commission, all the support staff have gained at least their Level 2 in Care with many attaining Level 3; on-going development in areas such as Dementia Awareness, End of Life Care & Medication is encouraged.

We are supported by a group of dedicated volunteers who may be Board Members and oversee the smooth running of the Society or volunteers who are there to enhance the social aspect of a residents life.

We have always tried to positively respond to the changing needs of our residents, and in 2010 we registered as a Care Provider so we are able to provide personal care such as bathing and dressing (but not nursing care or care overnight).

- Manager

From a nursing background, Margaret has been with the York society since 1998. Margaret introduced and currently also manages our domiciliary care service. Always warm and caring, she has time for everyone.

- Cook

Brenda is one of our cooks and has been with Abbeyfield for fourteen years. Her boundless energy and zest for life rub off on everyone around her.

- Care worker

Jackie is one of our team of care/support workers. Jackie is the newest member of our care team. She has been with Abbeyfield for two years but has previous care experience. Jackie is always willing to help with a smile.
