Abbeyfield House is an 18th century building in Berwick-upon-Tweed and accommodates nine residential studio style rooms including one with a separate sitting room. Three are on the ground floor and six are upstairs served by two stair lifts and two flights of stairs.

The great location on the Elizabethan Walls surrounding the town provides easy direct access to the town centre and views of the River Tweed. Our private walled garden at the rear provides a restful environment for residents and visitors.

Most rooms are en-suite and all rooms are unfurnished, so that you can bring your own furniture, making it a home from home.

The onsite house manager ensures that the house is warm, comfortable and safe and that the daily meals provided are varied, nutritious and enjoyable.

This house is managed by Abbeyfield Berwick.

Life at the house

We believe in enjoying later life and an Abbeyfield house will always offer residents the opportunity to get involved in activities and entertainment - which are a big part of life in our houses!

We offer an extensive activity programme within our supported houses, with our teams dedicated to coordinating events. We understand the importance of our residents’ emotional and physical well-being, and keeping active and enjoying later life is crucial to this.

Keeping active is important for older people and we offer numerous opportunities for residents to stay active, but it’s always the residents choice to get involved, with their independence and choice always being respected.

Dining areaAll of our food is home prepared and cooked. We appreciate how important good nutrition is in later life, and try our very best to provide healthy well balanced meals that will appeal to everyone’s taste buds.

Special diets can also be catered for, and our staff will always make sure that there’s something on the menu that appeals to you, from a range of choices each day.
