Life at the house

We believe in enjoying later life and an Abbeyfield house will always offer residents the opportunities to get involved in activities and entertainment - which are a big part of life in our houses!

We offer an extensive activity programme within our Supported Houses, with our teams dedicated to coordinating events. We understand the importance of our residents’ emotional and physical well-being, and keeping active and enjoying later life is crucial to this.

Keeping active is important for older people and we offer numerous opportunities for residents to stay active, but it’s always the residents choice to get involved, with their independence and choice always being respected.

KitchenWe pride ourselves on the quality of the food that we produce and the variety of the menus which our residents play a big part in setting.

We source food locally whenever we can and there is a choice of menu twice a week which allows for the different tastes within our small group of residents. On Sundays we always have a roast dinner and wine or fruit juice.

Our housekeepers make lovely cakes and puddings every day and are mindful of accommodating some of our residents dietary requirements such as diabetes.

Resident's who have a birthday can choose the menu for the day and we also have a pre-Christmas dinner as well as Christmas Day and New Year's Day dinners where residents are encouraged to invite family and friends along.
