About the property

Abbeyfield House Care Home is a beautiful Victorian property with a modern extension, providing care for older people in 27 rooms, 12 of which are en-suite. Two of our larger rooms can serve as double rooms for a couple should the need arise.

Two pleasant dining rooms and a large comfortable lounge give space for living and socialising, and our attractive well-tended gardens can be used for outside activity as weather permits – or simply as somewhere to sit and enjoy the fresh air and watch the world go by.

Our kind and caring staff provide 24 hour care, seven days a week, including two delicious home-cooked meals every day.

The Abbey Day Centre is a purpose designed cottage bungalow which offers supported day places for ten people every day. We have a lovely sitting room, a fully equipped bathroom for assisted bathing and a fully adapted toilet.

The kitchen provides a re-enablement facility where clients can practice the skills they need at home, and we also provide hairdressing services.

We have a beautiful garden with summer house, and our gardeners are always glad of a bit of extra help! The cottage garden and summerhouse are available to residents also, and vice versa, and we sometimes have joint events.

This house is managed by Abbeyfield Kirkcaldy.

Meet our staff

At an Abbeyfield care home, our fully qualified staff create a care plan tailored to each individual's needs. The staff at Abbeyfield totally understand the needs of those who now find it difficult to cope at home without assistance.

Abbeyfield care homes each have their own individual style which our staff nurture by offering residents a personalised approach to their care, with security, independence and happiness at the heart of what they do.

This person-centred approach means all residents are respected as an individual and treated with dignity.

ActivitiesWhile we employ our own activities staff who accommodate the particular interests of residents, we additionally bring in outside entertainers and groups to add to the range of things to enjoy.

We have had vintage cars, birds of prey, concerts, parties, choirs – even a detachment of the Royal Marines’ band.

Outings to enjoy

Our minibuses take residents out on trips to a variety of places near and far. Seaside towns, the safari park, nature reserves and the fisheries museum are typical of the many places visited. We also go to particular events: the Royal Highland is a firm favourite as is the Garden Festival in Edinburgh. Theatre outings and the pantomime are also in the programme of things to do and see.

We're all going on a...

Some residents even choose to go further afield on weekend holidays which in recent years have covered areas as diverse as the Lancashire coast and the Lake District, the Highlands of Scotland and the West Coast mountains and islands.

Individual quality time

Some activities are carried out between staff and residents on a one to one basis, either in the house or to a particular place or event, or to choose presents for residents’ family members. Staff and transport are also provided as required to assist residents in travelling to visit families or attending family events.

Happy Christmas and Birthday!

Christmas is a particularly busy time in Abbeyfield and seems to last the whole of December with a friends and family day for an extra special Sunday, a lunch involving all staff and residents before we reach Christmas Day itself. Santa Claus and his reindeers are very frequent visitors here!

Residents’ birthdays too are always the focus of extra visits and merriment.
