Life at the house

ActivitiesLife at Abbeyfield is never dull. We like to make sure that you can keep busy and active if you want, and also try to make sure that our residents lead the way when it comes to making decisions on what they’d like to try or enjoy.

You could pursue your hobbies or take up new ones, join us on trips out such as visits to the local pub, theatre or seaside, enjoy organised entertainment events such as singing groups, bingo afternoons, ‘knit & natter’ sessions, coffee mornings or tea parties.

Of course, you can relax and just wile away the day or spend time in our beautiful gardens but when you feel like participating then you’ll find plenty to do from arts and craft sessions to exercise classes.

There will be a regular timetable of events, which you are free to join in with, or you could set up your own group, if there are several people who want to take up a particular activity. Each house is different, so there will be lots of variety, and volunteers on hand to help as well.

On site house staff offer two tasty and nutritious home-cooked meals every day, served in our communal dining room, making sure meal times are a social occasion.

Residents also have breakfast making facilities in their own rooms so they can have their breakfast whenever they want, for a gentle start to the day.
