About the property

Abbeyfield House provides care, comfort and companionship to older people in the heart of the Ribble Valley.

The home has a total of 40 rooms and includes a self-contained dementia unit.

All our bedrooms are spacious, have en-suite facilities and are furnished to a high standard - however residents are welcome to bring their own furniture, keepsakes and television to make it feel like home.

We have five comfortable lounges, three of which have a television, and a conservatory. If the weather is fine residents can take a stroll or sit out in our attractive garden area with raised flower beds and a patio area with easy access.

A full laundry service is provided, we have our own hairdressing salon  and although we don't allow pets, they may be allowed to visit if first checked with the staff.

For an extra charge we can arrange personal services such as hairdressing, dental, chiropody or ophthalmic appointments to be carried out in the comfort of the house. We also work closely with local churches, arranging their services as required.

This house is managed by Abbeyfield Lancashire Extra Care.

Meet our staff

Our staff are always ready to offer a helping hand and look after our residents with sensitivity and compassion.

Our manager is supported by her team of senior carers who in turn are supported by qualified care and welfare assistants. Their main aim is to make Abbeyfield House a comfortable and caring home, with each member of staff being supported to deliver the best possible care and assistance.

Arts and CraftsWe are very lucky in having a fabulous activities coordinator who organises a range of interesting, fun and engaging activities including:

Activities include

• Weekly coffee mornings
• Craft afternoons with activities such as card making and painting
• Film afternoons when we watch films like Mama Mia! and Oklahoma!
• Weekly armchair aerobics
• Monthly aromatherapy sessions where residents enjoy a hand and foot massage
• Monthly sing-along
• Cheese and wine parties

Performances by professional groups are also popular, such as pantomimes and magicians. We once even had a live animal show with hedgehogs and snakes!

We also like to offer outings for our residents - we have been to a hotel for Christmas Lunch in Blackpool and for tea and cakes in a café in the Yorkshire Dales.
