Cunningham House provides sheltered housing for older people who value their independence, want to be free from the responsibilities of running a home, enjoy stimulating company and delicious home-cooked food.
Our residents do not need nursing care, but they do welcome the reassurance of having Careline and the presence of our live-in House Manager. Visitors regularly comment on the friendly, welcoming atmosphere at Cunningham House, which we attribute to our small size, dedicated staff team and enthusiastic volunteers.
Cunningham House is an integral part of the Pirbright community. Most of our many volunteers live locally, and residents take part in village activities and clubs. We regularly welcome friends and visitors of all ages to coffee, lunches and social activities.
As a non-profit making organisation, we rely on the unstinting support and expertise of a large cohort of committed volunteers who support the running of the House and add to the feeling of warmth so evident in our home. The time they give to Pirbright’s only assisted living home also means we can keep our fees comparatively low.
Our home
We have nine ground floor rooms with an en suite toilet, and some have a kitchenette too. We have a plan in place to improve these facilities with the addition of a private shower.
Each room has its own door to a small private garden and access to the landscaped gardens beyond.
Residents hold keys to their door and the main front door, so they are free to come and go as they please.

Our home
Cunningham House
All of our rooms are on the ground floor, making it accessible for all, and lead onto our beautiful landscaped gardens, the ideal place to catch up with family and friends or spend time getting to know the other residents. Our residents often meet for coffee in the lounge and we place no restriction on visiting hours, as our residents are key holders for their own rooms and the front door.
