Donate in memory
Making a donation in memory can be a wonderful way to celebrate or commemorate the life of a loved one. Many of the 'in memory' donations we receive are sent as a ‘thank you’ to Abbeyfield from families and friends of our residents. We are happy to earmark any special donation like this to a specific Abbeyfield house - it’s your donation, your choice - so just let us know. You can:
- Donate online
- Make a donation over the phone - just call us on 01727 734095
- Send a cheque made payable to 'The Abbeyfield Society' to:
The Abbeyfield Society
St Peter’s House
2 Bricket Road
Please remember to include the name of the person in whose memory the donation is being made, along with your details, so we can say thank you.
Donate through your payroll
Payroll Giving (also known as Give As You Earn or Workplace Giving) is a great way for you to support Abbeyfield with a regular gift direct from your pay. It’s a flexible scheme which anyone who pays UK income tax can join. It’s an easy and tax-effective way to give because donations are deducted before tax so each £1 donation will only cost you 80p - if you're a higher rate taxpayer will cost you just 60p.

Why partner with us?
We need your support now to plan and be ready to meet the needs of our ageing population – to ensure every older person has a good later life, not one in which their only company is the television.
Partnering with us is not just about supporting a good cause, it’s good for your business too. Our partnerships will always be a two way street and be advantageous because:
- We are local. With 500 Abbeyfield homes across the UK, your business is bound to be our neighbour.
- Abbeyfield houses are at the heart of their communities – close to shops, businesses, transport links, churches and schools.
- We all know an older person. Our cause will resonate with everyone, especially your employees.
- Our population is ageing. We are facing a massive challenge and this is being discussed on the national stage by politicians and the media alike – potential for some big exposure.
How can your company help?
- Charity of the Year
Nominating Abbeyfield as your Charity of the Year is an incredible way to support us in our aim to alleviate the loneliness, isolation and separation felt by thousands of older people every day.

Employee nominated donation
Castleoak and their employees generously supported our Golden Moments campaign with a donation that will help us to provide a calendar of regular events for our residents and older people in our communities. Golden Moments is an important part of our commitment to enrich the lives of older people by developing their interests and well-being, providing companionship and something lovely to look forward to.
“Golden Moments reflects the values we hold dear at Castleoak, providing excellent care to older people, a sector that we have specialised in since 1996. Our commitment to social care runs deep and our staff were pleased to help put smiles on the faces of the Abbeyfield residents enjoying some wonderful moments. “
Donation from product sales
This year we are delighted to celebrate the 5th year of our partnership with Riviera Travel, who support us with a donation equivalent to 10% of the holiday cost when our supporters book with them and mention Abbeyfield at the time of booking. The donation can even be earmarked for a particular house if preferred, simply by mentioning this when booking. Riviera are specialists in guided tours and cruises, covering short breaks through to the holiday of a lifetime touring Cambodia and Vietnam.

Charity of the Year
Abbeyfield House in Kirkcaldy was chosen by Sainsburys Kirkcaldy to be their Charity of the Year for 2016 and 2017. They are working together to reach their fundraising target of £20,000 to fund a new minibus which will be used to transport older people in the local community to events and activities. Sainsburys staff have visited the house and forged new friendships, with residents and staff regular also visitors in the store and at their fundraising events.
Customer donations through the Green Tokens scheme
Our houses and residents often develop close relationships with their local shops, with some residents enjoying a daily walk to their favourites. With over 500 Abbeyfield houses around the UK, there is a good chance that we are neighbours to most of the 350 waitrose stores across the country. Abbeyfield houses have been part of the Green token scheme in many Waitrose stores over several years, benefitting from generous support of customers at the exit.
Royal Mail donated £10,000 to support our Companionship at Christmas appeal, enabling us to invite hundreds of lonely older people into Abbeyfield homes at Christmas to enjoy great food and company. We are in the sixth year of our Companionship at Christmas campaign which supports older people who would otherwise be alone while others are celebrating the festivities. Like Abbeyfield, Royal Mail is a trusted and welcome companion to lonely older people at Christmas so this was a very fitting partnership.

In 2015, a team from Wilmot Dixon volunteered at Grace Muriel House in St Albans, transforming an area of the garden so that residents could grow their own fruit and vegetables. Wilmot Dixon provided all of the materials as well as the labour. The garden has been a great success, improving residents’ wellbeing and is also the venue for numerous events hosted by the house for older people locally!
