Overview

Victoria House is made up of two large Victorian houses, which have been joined together and extended to further enhance the property. We provide residential care for older people, including those who are living with early stages of dementia.

Our bedrooms are available in varying sizes each with a TV aerial and telephone access. Some bedrooms have en-suite facilities.

We have various well-maintained gardens so that residents can enjoy the fresh air when they would like. In the summer months, everyone enjoys coming together in the outdoor spaces to enjoy the sunshine.

The house has a lift and two stair lifts for easy access throughout the property. There is a hairdressing / treatment room, and a chiropodist who visits the house regularly. We also have regular visits from a lady who carries out reflexology and massage.

We have a small library in the house, and are more than happy to provide access to audio books for those who have sight impairment.

There is a facility onsite to park and charge mobile scooters.

Life at the house

We have two activity coordinators who plan our art and craft mornings, coffee mornings and trips. They also run the shop and book the outside entertainers who visit the house frequently. We have a clothes shop which visits the house on a bi-monthly basis, so that the residents can purchase clothes in the privacy of the house rather than having to go shopping.

We have a good support group of volunteers who provide various activities and outings for our group of residents. We have a policy of allowing pets.

We have regular outings to attractions in the local area including Hampton Court and Buckingham Palace, as well as day trips up the river and trips to the theatre.

We strongly encourage residents to retain their independence and continue with any hobbies they enjoyed prior coming to live with us. For those residents who feel they would like some support when they go out, we can provide an escort to accompany them.

We have an annual summer fete and BBQ which is open to family and friends and is also very popular in the local community. Every month we have a church service for those of our residents who cannot attend the Sunday service at the local church. A hairdresser comes every Wednesday and we also have an exercise class every Tuesday.

Dining areaOur chef provides two tasty and nutritious home-cooked meals every day, and holds regular meetings with residents to discuss what they'd like to see on the menus.

Meals are served in one of our three pleasant dining rooms or communal areas, making meal times a real social occasion within the house.

Residents have breakfast in their rooms for a gentle start to the day.
