We provide a peaceful, friendly atmosphere where residents can remain as independent as possible.  It's a home from home with support when you need it from our professional and caring house staff and volunteers.

After being built in 1969, the house was converted and a modern extension added with a light and airy conservatory at the front of the house.

It has eight bed-sitting rooms on the ground floor and two flats on the first floor (with a chair stair lift).

A team of excellent cooks provides delicious home cooked meals, overseen by the deputy house manager who is responsible for the welfare of the residents and the day to day running of the house.

A team of overnight sleepers is on call overnight so residents are reassured that there is someone on hand if there is a problem.

The house is surrounded by a large beautifully maintained garden and there is a small car park at the front. Many of the rooms have a door leading directly into the grounds and there is also access through the dining room.

The garden has a number of benches and chairs for the residents use and is used to host an annual Garden Party for all those associated with our society.

Sibleys Orchard is managed by Abbeyfield Berkhamsted & Hemel Hempstead

Life at the house

Our residents are quite independent, with just a little bit of support when you need it, and you can come and go as you please. We organise an active social life, and we encourage residents to suggest activities or interests, which the staff will then try and organise.

Our activities include

• Weekly coffee mornings
• Local school choir
• Film nights
• Quizzes
• Local amateur dramatic society performances
• Annual Garden Party held in our beautiful garden

KitchenTwo delicious freshly prepared home cooked meals are provided each day by the deputy house manager in the dining room.

The main meal is at lunch time: meat or fish with a selection of vegetables, for example cottage pie or a roast dinner.

Residents have the facilities to prepare their own choice of breakfast in their room, so have the freedom to have it as early or as late as they wish.
