Overview

Our residents have the privacy of their own accommodation, combined with the companionship of others and the security and support of the dedicated house staff. We welcome applications from all sections of the community. Our residents enjoy home-cooked meals together every day. The charges are fully inclusive of food, cooking, utility bills and council tax.

Palmer House was built in 1900 and renovated in 1997. The house consists of 9 rooms, some en suite. Weekly social activities include games afternoons, expeditions, coffee mornings, organised by volunteers and house staff members. Three meals are provided for residents every day.

Life at the house

Games afternoonWe organise regular activities for our residents, social activities include coffee mornings, walks into Kew Gardens and scrabble afternoons. 

We also have regular visits from the local school, Queen’s Primary School who took
part in the Rising Star Awards that we have sponsored in the past.

Monday -
Lunch: Scampi with sauté potatoes, peas and salad. Semolina and jam
Supper: Soup / Tagliatelli carbonara. Cremé caramel

Tuesday -
Lunch: Cottage pie with carrots, green beans and spinach. Melon with Ginger
Supper: Soup / Egg on toast. Peaches and cream

Wednesday -
Lunch: Roast lamb with mint sauce, roast potatoes, broccoli, leeks and ratatouille. Stewed apricots and custard.
Supper: Soup / Salad with cold meat, cottage cheese and potato salad. Chocolate mousse.

Thursday -
Lunch: Gammon with onion sauce, new potatoes, spring greens, peas and carrots. Fruit salad with icecream
Supper: Soup / Cheese or beans on toast. Fairy cakes.

Friday -
Lunch: Smoked haddock florentine with new potatoes, courgettes and cauliflower. Fruit flan with cream.
Supper: Soup / Brocolli and cheese flan with salad. Yoghurt or icecream.

Saturday -
Lunch: Sweet and sour chicken with rice, stir-fry and vegetables. Apple crumble with custard.
Supper: Soup / Sardines on toast. Banana and toffee whip.

Sunday -
Lunch: Roast pork with apple sauce, roast potatoes, leeks, sprouts and parsnips. Sherry trifle.
Supper: Buffet supper
