Overview

Oxenford House care home was purpose built in 1989 so is a modern, comfortable and spacious home, with an airy conservatory that was added in 2004. The home accommodates 25 residents in single rooms, some of which are en-suite. Residents are encouraged to bring in their own furniture and choose their room decoration so there is a very homely feel.

We offer three separate communal sitting rooms, spacious and open plan living/dining room and comfortable bedrooms with telephone and TV points, call systems in each bedroom, bathroom and lounge so that residents can call for assistance any time, day or night.

We are located in the charming village of Cumnor which is a lively village and has a very supportive local community. In the village we have a newsagent, village store and post office for our Residents to visit. There is a regular bus service to the nearby historic town of Oxford which is three miles away, and Abingdon on Thames which is five miles away. Residents are encouraged to pursue and develop interests that attract them.

The care team is complemented by catering, domestic and administrative staff that are also fully trained in their area of expertise, and our landscaped grounds are cared for by our visiting weekly gardener. Oxenford House has its own GP from a local surgery who visits every other week (other times by appointment only and in the case of emergencies) and we can arrange visits by chiropodists, opticians and dentists, subject to the individual needs of each resident.

Oxenford House is managed by Abbeyfield Oxenford.

Life at the house

Abbeyfield Oxenford House, OxfordAt Oxenford House we have a very varied activity programme including musical movement classes, quizzes, film afternoons, reminiscence & poetry sessions, aromatherapy sessions, bingo, scrabble club, knit & natter, gardening and in house theatre shows.  Outings to village events and day trips to local places of interest are also organised.

We also have our own dedicated in house Physiotherapist who visits the house twice a week.

Throughout the year we celebrate monthly ‘special’ events including Chinese New Year, St George’s day, Halloween and Christmas.

We hold an annual BBQ and Christmas party for the Residents to enjoy with their families and friends. This is a great way for Residents to be able to socialise with Staff and their families.

Trish is our Activity Leader and leads the activity programme; however we actively encourage all staff to involve themselves in all daily activities of the house.
