Overview

Here at Grace Muriel House our ethos has always been focused on family and home, where everyone is greeted with a friendly welcoming atmosphere. We provide a clean and comforting home with quality care you can trust.

Our dedicated care staff are on hand 24 hours a day to provide support to our residents. All our staff have a high level of training and a passion for care, many are champions in a certain field, such as infection control and nutrition. Our in house laundry, cleaning team and housekeeper ensure the house runs smoothly and all the little things are taken care of.

We believe it’s extremely important to promote independence and choice, we often find the well-being of our residents improves once the stress and worry of coping alone is no longer an issue.

We have great links with the local community, with regular visits from health professionals, students, volunteers and representatives from local churches.
Purpose built, we have number of light and airy lounges, hairdressing and well-being room and  beautiful garden, courtyard and summer house with wheelchair access.

We have air conditioning in all reception rooms, wifi, disabled and wheelchair access throughout the house. Situated in a quiet residential area, Grace Muriel is just a few minutes’ walk from local shops and links to the town centre.

Life at the house

We offer an extensive activity programme within the home, with a dedicated team of activity coordinators, who understand the importance of our residents emotional and physical well-being.

One of the things we love to do is go out on trips to a variety of places, with groups to the theatre, garden centre, parks, seaside and for lunch or maybe just taking one resident shopping.

We have many visiting entertainers, groups or specialists, such as theatre, artists and hobby groups.

Keeping active is important to our residents so they can maintain their independence. We have a wide range of exercise programs on offer and have ourown, qualified exercise instructor for the over sixties.

With a fantastic team and a wide variety of activities there is always something for everyone.

Gardening

Gardening at Grace Muriel House

 

We have a wonderful area of the garden with raised flower/vegetable beds which is paved so residents of all abilities can continue to enjoy gardening. We have regular gardening sessions with Lesley one of Activity Coordinators and visits from a Therapeutic Horticulture group.

Our beautiful landscaped garden has seating areas in the court yard, lawn area, and summer house with views of the garden from the conservatory so residents can enjoy the garden all year round.

 

Art, Craft's and Quizzes

Trish a local volunteer runs a weekly crossword session which is extremely popular with residents and have regular quizzes’ where residents can join in and win a prize or play just for fun!

Arts and crafts at Grace Muriel House

We have a variety of art and craft sessions, including a weekly art group held by students from our local secondary school, knitting, woodwork, card making and many more.

Dining at Grace Muriel House

We pride ourselves in providing an excellent food service, where all of our meals are freshly prepared by qualified cooks, using locally sourced produce.

Menus are tailored to resident’s dietary needs and there is always plenty of choice, including vegetarian options and portion sizes.

Tea, coffee, soft drinks and homemade cakes and biscuits are served regularly throughout the day, and family and visitors are welcome to join residents for meals by arrangement.

We have different menus for special events and theme days, such as valentine’s day, Christmas, Chinese New Year and Easter.

 

Our kitchen team work closely with activities to arrange events such as cheese & wine tasting, afternoon teas and fruity Fridays!

We hold regular Food Forum meetings with residents to get feedback on the food we serve and input into developing new menus.

Our Chef Manager has a passion for providing great food and changing the perception of food in the care sector.
